Episode 9: Pt. 1 - Jaime Alvarez
29/06/2016 Duration: 01h02minIt's another 2 parter! In episode 9 Jaime Alvarez talks with me about his journey as an artist and the influences that shape one's path. Space voyage inspiring art, Foucault & grad school, turning a critical eye toward social institutions such as modern schools, defining yourself as an artist, developing as a photographer - my interview with Jaime Alvarez covered more than I expected. As Jaime has been on his journey as an artist he's kept his sense of humor intact. His enthusiasm for creating new work and appreciation of fellow artists comes through in our conversation. If it's shots of empty hallways in a school, photography of rocks given to him by a friend, or commercial work documenting other artists' exhibits - Jaime is consistently attempting to connect with the viewer. Episode 5: Pt. 1 - Christina P. Day
26/04/2016 Duration: 01h06minHey Everyone! Thanks for not forgetting about us during our hiatus. We had a busy month and we’ve got a bunch of episodes coming up. Today we’ve got part 1 of my interview with Christina P. Day. I felt my chat with her was more of a learning experience, or a class, in how to live like an artist. In talking with her it became apparent that she's done a lot of self-reflection about her identity as an artist and the work she creates. We talk about the definition of Crafts, differences between Art and Design, encouraging young artists, how grad school shapes an artist's growth, and much more. There was so much more we broke it up into two parts! *** Christina P. Episode 3 - Marc Brodzik
25/02/2016 Duration: 50minI had the chance to sit down with Marc after his Kitchen Table Gallery show last fall. We got into painting portraits of Philly locals, his Coal Country documentary, and some dark & twisted Philly history! Here's a brief description from our website about the paintings shown at KTG: Brodzik's paintings are a complex response to the environment of his youth, the direction of his education, and our market driven culture. He seeks to give voice to a society that is cajoled by fear to live beyond its means through signs, slogans and logos. By adopting these very images of "product" he subverts the message of pro-consumerism.
